REGISTER HERE!\nLocation to be emailed by 4/7/25.\nAlive and Kicking\, Contemporary Artists Thriving in Chelsea\nJoin members of the Columbia University Club of New York on Saturday\, April 12th for a highly engaging and customized art gallery walk of some of the best Spring shows in Chelsea galleries from 3 to 5 PM. This walk will largely focus on new work by Contemporary Artists from around the world.\n\nOrganized as part of a broader art program for our club by CUCNY member Christine Keeley\, NYC Photographer and owner of @christinekeeleystudios\, you will be led on an expertly planned\, 2-hour art gallery walk of up to 8 galleries by founder of Look@NYArt\, Efren Olivares. We will look at and discuss some of the best Spring shows in Chelsea\, including painting\, sculpture\, photography\, installation art\, and more\, as available. You will enjoy conversations about art whether you are an advanced art lover or a beginner.\n\nYou will love Julian Opie’s flattened large-scale sculptures and LED screens of walking figures. You will witness why Walton Ford is considered one of the pre-eminent painters of animals and explore his newest paintings at Gagosian\, inspired by animals that the wealthy Milanese heiress Luisa Casati kept in her Venice palazzo. We will walk through secret doors at Matthew Marks to witness full-decorated rooms by LA artist\, Laura Owens.\n\nThis tour involves reasonable walking distances within Chelsea\, of no more than 8 to 10 blocks.\n\nPrice per person $55.\n\nAbout Your Guide\, Efren Olivares: After a successful 20-year career in pharmaceutical marketing at Pfizer\, Baxter\, and Lilly\, Efren returned to school\, reconnecting with the passion he had felt during his University of Pennsylvania Art History classes. He obtained a Master of Art in Modern and Contemporary Art from Christie’s Education. After working briefly at the auction house\, as an Associate Director at a Chelsea gallery\, Efren formed Look@NYArt and regularly takes groups on NYC gallery tours. Efren is a Museum Guide at the Museum of the City of New York\, has led tours at MoMA\, and regularly leads art gallery tours for alumni associations including the Penn Club of NY\, Penn Club of NJ\, Emory Alumni Association of NY\, and many others.
