SUMMARY:The Joy of Funerals with Author\, Alix Strauss (Penn Club of NY)
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, January 8th • 6:00 PM • $15++ Per Member | $25++ Per Guest \nThe Joy of Funerals “is a dark and surprisingly buoyant novel that examines the fascination people have with death as a way to find love and connection\,” wrote Glamour in 2003 when Alix Strauss’ (NYU ’91) novel\, published by St. Martin’s Press\, debuted. Twenty years later\, this still rings true—if not more so today. \nBegun as an essay in the Lives column of The New York Times magazine\, The Joy of Funerals is written with raw wit\, mordant humor and a uniquely penetrating voice as Alix turned the spotlight on the unattractive subjects of loss\, grief and loneliness. \nJoin us Monday\, January 8th\, starting at 6:00 PM\, as we gather for a fireside chat and Q&A session with the esteemed author\, Alix Strauss. Engage in a thought-provoking discussion about her compelling book\, ‘The Joy of Funerals\,’ delving into the universal experience of human loneliness. Together\, let’s explore the profound\, innate\, and essential need we share for genuine connections. \nFor more information or registration\, please click here.
