Event Registration & Refund Policy

Effective Date: July 8, 2026

This Event Registration & Refund Policy applies to all events organized or sponsored by 1754 Alumni Club Ltd., also known as The Columbia University Club of New York (“Club,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).

By registering for a Club event, you agree to the terms set forth below.

Event Registration

Advance registration is required for most Club events. Registration is not considered complete until payment has been successfully processed and you receive a confirmation email.

The Club reserves the right to limit attendance, establish registration deadlines, or close registration once an event reaches capacity.

Pricing

Event pricing is subject to change without notice prior to registration. Once a registration has been confirmed, the price paid will not be adjusted except as required by law.

Cancellation by Attendee

Unless otherwise stated on the event registration page:

  • Requests for cancellation received seven (7) or more calendar days before the event will receive a full refund, less any non-refundable payment processing fees incurred by the Club.
  • Requests received less than seven (7) calendar days before the event are generally not eligible for a refund.
  • No refunds will be issued for failure to attend an event (“no-shows”).

Certain events may have different cancellation deadlines or refund policies due to venue commitments or catering requirements. If so, those terms will be clearly stated on the event registration page and will control.

Ticket Transfers

Unless prohibited for a particular event, registrations may be transferred to another individual by contacting the Club before the published registration deadline. The Club reserves the right to approve or deny transfer requests.

Event Changes

The Club reserves the right to:

  • change event schedules;
  • substitute speakers, presenters, entertainers, or venues;
  • modify event formats;
  • limit attendance; or
  • cancel events when necessary.

Such changes do not automatically entitle attendees to a refund.

Event Cancellation by the Club

If the Club cancels an event, registrants will generally receive either:

  • a full refund of the registration fee; or
  • the option to transfer the registration to a rescheduled event, if applicable.

The Club is not responsible for travel expenses, lodging costs, parking fees, lost wages, or other incidental or consequential expenses incurred by attendees.

Force Majeure

The Club shall not be liable for delays, changes, or cancellations resulting from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, natural disasters, public health emergencies, labor disputes, government actions, transportation disruptions, utility failures, or other events of force majeure.

Conduct at Events

The Club reserves the right to refuse admission to or remove any attendee whose behavior is disruptive, unlawful, unsafe, or inconsistent with the mission of the Club. Individuals removed from an event for misconduct are not entitled to a refund.
