A Life of Action in Global Finance, Diplomacy and Service with David Mulford

A Life of Action in Global Finance, Diplomacy and Service with David Mulford

David Mulford has witnessed and participated in dramatic changes in the world economic system—from newly independent countries in Africa to the emerging Eurobond market to the boardrooms of New York and London; from the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency to the Argentine debt crisis to the White House and Treasury Department; and from the halls of Oxford to the developing expanse of India.

Mulford’s deeply personal memoir of experience and transformation, Packing for India, is a firsthand account of key events, and a reflection on world leaders and on the United States’ role on the world stage. Join Mulford as he explores the underpinnings, vulnerabilities, and great promise of a global economy that, through the spread of capital, products, people, and technology, has transformed economic realities and aspirations around the world. Share and discuss with David his vision for a path toward sustained global growth and stability.

David Mulford is vice chairman international of Credit Suisse and former U.S. ambassador to India from 2004-2009. During his Ambassadorship, India emerged from 35 years of isolation to achieve unprecedented expansion in finance, health, science, agriculture, education and military cooperation with the U.S. While serving as Ambassador, the U.S. Department of State awarded Mulford the Sue M. Cobb Award for Exemplary Diplomatic Service in recognition of his extraordinary efforts as a non-career ambassador in using private sector leadership and management skills to make a significant impact on U.S. – India bilateral relations.

Mulford is a White House Fellow, the author of Packing for India, and two books on Zambia. He is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations and member of the Economic Club of New York. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford, an M.A. from Boston University and a B.A. from Lawrence University in Wisconsin.
