A Musical Evening with the Columbia Kingsmen
The Columbia Kingsmen were founded in 1948 at the request of then-University President Dwight Eisenhower to sing at the Homecoming Game. The group quickly became a sensation, singing on programs such as The Ed Sullivan Show and at venues such as
Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
More recently, the group has performed at Macy’s, the New York Stock Exchange, Radio City Music hall, Yankee Stadium, and more. Notable alumni of the group include Art Garfunkel, Tony- and Pulitzer-Award winning composer Tom Kitt, and doo-wop revival band Sha Na Na.
Today, the Kingsmen feature a range of musical genres in our repertoire that reflects upon our history, including doo-wop, Motown, classic rock, R&B, and a few contemporary tunes. We perform all over New York City, across the country, and around the world—having recently toured Spain, France, Portugal, Morocco, and Ireland.
