Buying Art Online: How to Identify & Use Leading Internet Sites with Confidence
Worldwide, the art market is an $80 billion industry. Major auction houses like Christie’s and Sotheby’s recently increased their online presence, and internet bidders are competing for top works of art at high-profile sales.
Our knowledgeable panelists, Melanie Pitson, VP of Product and Business Development at Artspace, Sebastian Cwilich, President and COO of Artsy, and Kenneth Schlenker, CEO, Gertrude represent three successful internet based companies. They will dive deep into discussing the research process: how to best navigate each site; sort through the wide variety of art available at all price points; and how to make your fine art purchases with confidence. The panelists will also share how their organizations seek to improve their services.
Our moderator is Liz Parks, the founder and director of Parks Fine Art, a New York based art advisory firm specializing in building collections of internationally-recognized contemporary art. Ms. Parks formerly served as Director of Sales at Artnet.com and Director of the VIP Art Fair. She has worked at prominent contemporary art galleries in Manhattan, and in the Contemporary Art department at Christie’s auction house. She holds an MA in Arts Administration from New York University.
