RESCHEDULING – Tour of Raynham Hall and Lunch in Oyster Bay
This event is being rescheduled. Watch for it on the spring calendar of events.
George Washington really slept here while meeting his spies!
This will be discussed by our docent who will lead us on a tour of Raynham Hall, the colonial-era home of the Townsend family, early settlers of this charming hamlet often visited by President Theodore Roosevelt. Since spying is the topic of the day, we will learn how it was done back then.
Following our tour we will have lunch at Wild Honey which is located in the building that once served as TR’s Summer White House. There will be time to visit the gazebo where he gave some of his famous speeches before departing for Manhattan at 3 PM.
