The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940: An Evening of Theatre at the Amateur Comedy Club

Did you miss the performance of Wilder’s The Skin of Our Teeth at the Amateur Comedy Club this past spring? Club members are invited back to the ACC for another special treat. Tickets to this event are limited to those members who did not attend the Wilder show.

Enjoy an evening of theatre and laughs, with an exclusive staging of The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, open to Columbia and Williams alumni. Our very own Columbia graduate and Club member, Hoonan Mehran, will be performing alongside Williams College alums Eric Kuzmuk, Chuck Hewitt, and Sam Fortenbaugh. Banter with them at the wine reception afterward.

The show is “an ingenious and wildly comic romp which enjoyed a long and critically hailed run both on and Off-Broadway. Poking antic fun at…the corny thrillers of Hollywood’s heyday, the play is a non-stop barrage of laughter as those assembled (or at least those who aren’t killed off) untangle the mystery of the “Stage Door Slasher.” …a kind of crossbreeding of Charles Ludlam The Mystery of Irma Vep and Terrence McNally It’s Only a Play seasoned with a soupcon of Noises Off” (NYTimes).

The Amateur Comedy Club, founded in 1884, is the oldest continuously operating amateur dramatics club in the nation. The Club has its own theatre in a National Historic Register building.
