Urasenke Way of Tea: Japanese Tea Ceremony

Urasenke Way of Tea: Japanese Tea Ceremony

The Columbia Club of New York cordially invites you to a Japanese Tea Ceremony demonstration. Join us and immerse in the rich cultural traditions of Japan.

Led by an experienced Tea Master, this unique experience will include:

  • Access to a secret Japanese garden and four traditional tea rooms, all of which were constructed by traditional carpenters with imported Japanese material from Kyoto, Japan.
  • An authentic Urasenke tea ceremony demonstration, Way of Tea. You will learn all about the history, philosophy and etiquette behind one to Japan’s three classical arts of refinement.
  • An opportunity to sample the best quality sweets and matcha green tea from Kyoto, Japan, where Urasenke originated.

The Urasenke Chanoyu Center is located in a Midtown-East landmark building. Members will be treated to a brief overview of the Center’s history – from 1880, through it’s days as famed artist Mark Rothko’s studio, to life as a center for peacefulness through mindful refinement.

Cost: $11.00 per person
