Fireside Chat with Author Jim Windolf Discussing His Newly Released Book Where the Music Had to Go: How Bob Dylan and the Beatles Changed Each Other—and the World
RSPV Here!
Join journalist and author Jim Windolf for an engaging discussion of his newly released book, Where the Music Had to Go: How Bob Dylan and the Beatles Changed Each Other—and the World. In this program, Windolf will explore the surprising and influential relationship between Bob Dylan and the Beatles, drawing on original research and vivid backstage anecdotes—many of them little known before his work.
Although each initially dismissed the other, that skepticism quickly gave way to admiration. As Windolf shows, the creative exchange between Dylan and the Beatles helped reshape not only their own music, but the direction of popular culture. Their first meeting in 1964 began a connection that would echo across decades, as their careers unfolded on often parallel tracks.
With insight, storytelling, and fresh perspective, Windolf will illuminate the artistic dialogue between these two towering figures of twentieth-century music and show how they changed each other—and the world. His book has already received major attention, including a favorable review in The Wall Street Journal, and will be featured as the cover story in an upcoming issue of The New York Times Book Review.
